General Manager - American Natural Retail

We are currently seeking general manager candidates who are upbeat, energetic, self-starters, pro-active, and enjoy working in a food-focused and sales-oriented environment. Our store management team, led by the General Manager, is primarily responsible for the overall leadership, support, and performance of one convenience store including profitability; convenience store and food operations; sales; customer counts; service; fuel; efficiencies; cost controls; employee relations; employee staffing; shift supervision; training and development; safety and security; and programs and administration.  The General Manager directly supervises the Second Manager, Assistant Manager, and Hosts in each location and reports directly to the Field Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales and Customer Service

  • Ensures their team provides outstanding hospitality and customer service by following established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the development of strategies for maximizing store sales by executing marketing programs.

 

Food Operations

  • Responsible for the overall operation of the Eatery.
  • Must maintain high standards of eatery cleanliness, food quality, and sanitation.

 

Cost Controls

  • Responsible for controlling operational costs of the Eatery and marketplace including inventory, store supplies, expenses, and labor

 

Employee Relations

  • Responsible for instilling a professional, high energy, and team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Responsible for coaching, disciplining, and discharging of all store employees.

 

Employee Staffing

  • Responsible for all staffing of the store including recruiting, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, and an acceptable level of employee turnover.

 

Training and Development

  • Promotes and participates in the individual and team development of all team members.
  • Conducts thorough employee orientations and accurately completes all new hire paperwork and procedures.

 

Programs and Administration

  • Responsible for implementing and ensuring the execution of company programs, policies, and procedures.

General Information and Expectations:

  • General Managers are expected to work a minimum of a five-day workweek and at least 45 hours per week. Must be flexible to work some evenings and weekends.
  • General Managers will receive annual performance reviews. Performance, professionalism, and attitude will be the primary criteria for salary increases and promotions.
  • General Managers are expected to support their Field Supervisor and their subordinates to ensure that the company mission statement, values, and corporate policies are supported and followed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years’ management experience in the restaurant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fuel/convenience store operations management is preferred but not required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and the internet.
  • Strong knowledge of profit and loss financial statements and budgeting.
  • Must be able to balance multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent leadership and human relations skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.

Physical Standards:

  • Must be able to work varying shifts and at least 45 hours per week.
  • Must have a good stamina level to endure 9-hour to 10-hour shifts that may involve as much as 7-8 hours of standing and walking and up to 2-3 hours of sitting.
  • Involves some occasional heavy lifting (25lbs) and a moderate amount of light lifting.
  • Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, twist, and reach.
  • Must be able to change positions frequently.
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout the store.
  • Must be able to visually discern housekeeping, safety, sanitation, service, and product quality issues.
