Second Manager - American Natural Retail

We are currently seeking second manager candidates who are upbeat, energetic, self-starters, pro-active, and enjoy working in a food-focused and sales-oriented environment. Our store management team is primarily responsible for the overall leadership, support, and performance of one convenience store.  In the absence of the General Manager, the Second Manager directly supervises the Assistant Manager and Hosts in each location.  The Second Manager reports to the General Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales and Customer Service

  • Ensures the team provides outstanding hospitality and customer service by following established policies and procedures.
  • Aides for the development of strategies for maximizing store sales by executing marketing programs.


Food Operations

  • Assists with the overall operation of the Eatery.
  • Must maintain high standards of Eatery cleanliness, food quality, and sanitation.


Cost Controls

  • Assists the General Manager with controlling operational costs of the Eatery and marketplace including inventory, store supplies, expenses, and labor costs.


Employee Relations

  • Responsible for instilling a professional, high energy, and team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Responsible for coaching and disciplining all store employees at the discretion of the General Manager.


Employee Staffing

  • Responsible for appropriate staffing levels during their shift and adjacent shifts.
  • Aides General Manager with recruiting and interviewing for store location.


Training and Development

  • Promotes and participates in the individual and team development of all team members.
  • Conducts thorough employee orientations and accurately completes all new hire paperwork and procedures.


Programs and Administration

  • Responsible for implementing and ensuring the execution of company programs, policies, and procedures.

General Information and Expectations:

  • Second Managers are expected to work a minimum of a five-day workweek and at least 40 hours per week varying shifts.
  • Second Managers will receive annual performance reviews. Performance, professionalism, and attitude will be the primary criteria for salary increases and promotions.
  • Second Managers are expected to support their General Managers to ensure that the company mission statement, values, and corporate policies are supported and followed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one-year management experience in the restaurant and fuel/convenience store industry.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and the internet.
  • Must be able to balance multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent leadership and human relations skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.

Physical Standards:

  • Must be able to work varying shifts and at least 40 hours per week.
  • Must have a good stamina level to endure 8-hour to 9-hour shifts that may involve as much as 7-8 hours of standing and walking and up to 1 hour of sitting.
  • Involves some occasional heavy lifting (25lbs) and a moderate amount of light lifting.
  • Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, twist, and reach.
  • Must be able to change positions frequently.
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout the store.
  • Must be able to visually discern housekeeping, safety, sanitation, service, and product quality issues.
